About The Work
To step into the world of Bjarne Melgaard’s NO. II-B (PURPLE) is to engage with a captivating, albeit twisted, artistic vision. A cartoonish blue-toned woman and an anthropomorphic tiger greet the viewer (large cats are a recurring theme within the artist’s oeuvre), and it is only upon closer inspection that the detailed faces, human and animal alike, of the purple background magically—and disturbingly—become animate.
