About The Work
Robert Rauschenberg’s 1970 lithograph Score suggests a cross between a Rube Goldberg machine and musical notation. Blending several different images from multiple sources, including figurative illustration, a NASA rocket, and an American flag, all harmonized with a bare, two tone color scheme on crème paper, Rauschenberg’s print addresses itself to the way we encounter and process the symphony of mediated images, which we encounter almost randomly during the course of our day.
