There is a pleasing ease to Mary Heilmann’s ARBOR PIECE II. Fashioned in the image of a diptych, the print is divided into two neutrally colored windows, from each of which bursts of red paint jump forward. The single low-lying line of the right panel is balanced and perfectly offset by the free flowing dabs of red to the left.
