On the occasion of his first UK solo exhibition (breathspace), Buenos Aires-based artist Eduardo Navarro has produced a series of ten original drawings exclusively for Gasworks.
Each drawing is unique both in colour and content and depicts a crab-like eye, a recurring motif throughout his exhibition. Navarro’s fascination with the idea of disembodiment causes him to imagine his eye having crawled out of his body at night while he sleeps, only to return again when he wakes up.
During the lockdown, Navarro started drawing daily. In his words, this practice enabled him to ‘relocate the studio to inside my own head’, revealing the act of drawing as a timely medium for speculative thinking. The resulting series of drawings act as a portal connecting dimensions, past and future visions, unrealised and perhaps unrealisable ideas.
