About The Work
This elegant pair of porcelain candlesticks is carefully hand-painted by the skilled artisans at Zvezdin's Workshop in Russia. The ornate design is inspired by the Fabergé eggs produced in Russia during the late 1800's - early 1900's. Elegant details include 18kt gold painted accents.
Zvezdin's workshop was founded by Israeli, Russian ceramicist and artist Alexander Zvezdin in 1998. The workshop, located in Russia, produces hand-painted, porcelain Judaica. Each piece is cast of high-quality porcelain imported to Russia from Limoges, France. The porcelain is then painted with special ceramic dyes, some of which contain 18kt gold. Skilled painters, including Zvezdin's daughters, create the artwork on the porcelain. Once painted, the piece is fired at a high tempurature in order to permanently bake the dye into the porcelain surface. This process can take up to 6 firings and each piece can take up to 2 weeks to completely finish.
