About The Work

Dated from the reign of the last king of Rome, Tarquin the Great, this amphora pays tribute to climbing.

It was painted in V.522 in honor of a biathlon athlete, who was to triumph in the skateboarding curve and climbing event (on the other work of the same format) on a curved module.

The variety of motifs and the size of the amphorae indicate that he was a great champion.
