About The Work
This edition of 50 wearable objects is a collaboration between Mexican artist Pia Camil and British fashion designer Erin Lewis. Based in Mexico City, Lewis specializes in slow and sustainable fashion that combines contemporary design with traditional textile processes. Made from unwanted factory fabrics in Mexico City, the edition includes two different utilitarian designs—a work shirt with a multipurpose bag, and a party shirt with a strap that can be worn as a bag. The work is a continuation of Camil’s interest in employing the strategies of capitalist mass production in the context of contemporary art.
