About The Work
These images were created by exposing instant color film to high voltage discharges. The series follows a prior body of work exploring the notion of extended photography in digital media through the use of short-circuited digital cameras and techniques for creating glitch art known as data bending. After spending a year creating and posting daily for Year of the Glitch, Stearns sought to apply insights concerning materials, processes, and concepts central to glitch art to photographic materials. High Voltage Images further explores untapped creative potentials latent within media as unleashed through unorthodox approaches.
