Magdalena II is an elegant figurative bronze sculpture by Nando Kallweit.
Tall and elongated, with throws hanging from outstretched arms, this is a beautiful piece.
Modelled on modern youthful postures but with a nod to the importance of heritage through the stylised Egyptian-influenced head.
Nando carved the marque for the body from a piece of oak using a small chain saw. The marque is then used to make the cavity for a sand and clay cast bronze. The figure therefore retains the cut marks and wood grain of the original carving and give it a very organic feel.
Magdalena II is produced in a small edition of 25 pieces. Nando hammers his mark into the base as well as stamping the edition number.
