About The Work
Famed Conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner's text-based works activate their surroundings with enigmatic phrasing set in his characteristic block text. Visually simplistic yet conceptually adept, the envisioning of a purpose or notion is essential, Weiner has said he believes the viewer must complete his work by viewing it; the act of seeing imbues his instructions with meaning. In this silkscreened enamel on metal piece, Weiner displays the words “Past the End of the Dock,” on one side and the German translation, “Nach dem Ende von dem Kai,” on the other.
