About The Work
Dumas uses the ancient technique of Fresco and real bronze powder, however her use of the bronze powder is reversed: instead of being on the surface—the way it has been used in icons, she puts the bronze underneath the paint pigments, and scratches the surfaces as to only reveal the bronze inside.
With DELPHES TALE, Dumas pursues her exploration of Marine Cetacean mammals of the Delphinidae family: Dolphins. It is the story of our conscious evolution in contact with the primordial intelligence of our planet alive in our Oceans.
Myths and legends abound about the mysterious communion between humans and dolphins from the dawn of time. Veneered as the messengers of the Gods, their task is to communicate with the children of the Earth, they are the carriers of messages of our progress, the keepers of the “Sacred Breath of Life”. Manna, the life force of the Universe. Apollo himself transformed into a dolphin (his Sacred Animal) to guide men to the site of the City of Delphi, where Greek Civilization was born.
In harmony with the waves and tides, singing in their own language, Dolphins follow the rhythm of the Oceans. The fact that they live in peace, without destroying the planet, indicates that they live in a state of grace. We have a lot to learn from them about this state.
“Deep inside of us, there is calmness. Deep inside the calmness, there is love. Dolphins taught me this" - Jacques Mayol, Homo Delphinus: the Dolphin Within Man.
