About The Work
Defined by a unique creative process, the hyper-real compositions of Andre Von Morisse reinvent traditional boundaries between painting and photography. Often using paintings as the starting point for an elaborate photographic process, and vice-versa, Von Morisse is influenced by everything from Manet and pop culture to retro futurism and sci-fi landscapes. This diptych is from the series The Inability of Meeting Someone Famous Objectively, in which iconic historical and pop culture figures are rendered in oil—a ghostly outline of their symbolic fame painted over their faces. Meeting Will & Kate features the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their royal crowns overlaid.
