About The Work
Like the rest of the work in Jonathan Monk’s ongoing series Meetings, which began in 1999, Somewhere Soon uses text to create a hypothetical proposal—an invitation for an imagined encounter in the future. The green cotton banner, which reads “a time & a place at some point in the future” and references the text-based works of Lawrence Weiner and On Kawara, includes instructions that it be pinned directly on the wall.
