About The Work
This image is a still from a 35mm film that depicts in extraordinary detail, the life cycle of a fly. This work focuses on the minutiae of nature but presented on a large scale, allowing Håkansson's artistic vision to guide traditional scientific observation. The screen-print originates from Håkansson’s original presentation of the work The End, incorporating a specifically devised score, composed by John Coxon and performed by a musical ensemble, conducted by Jessica Cottis for Håkansson's 2011 exhibition at The Modern Institute. The full work has since been presented with Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Female Voices of VOX (Sydney Philharmonia Choirs) in the 19th Biennale of Sydney, at the historic Pier 2/3 in Walsh Bay.
