About The Work
Deeply inspired by the sound, material, and visuality of record albums, Texan artist Dario Robleto recreates the highly colorful compositions of sixties and seventies album covers in this four screenprint portfolio. Entitled I Want You, Sound Odyssey, Don’t Even Think About Livin, and Tell It Like It Is, Robleto’s prints capture the spirit of Vietnam War-era iconography and American rock and roll style, with both structure and text. Robleto writes, on the importance of vinyl records, “every time we play a song from a record we are participating in a multimillion-year transference of energy, from the life giving light of the sun to the heartbreaking sound waves of any number of singers.”
