Gaston Zvi Ickowicz

The work of Argentina-born and Israel-based photographer Gaston Zvi Ickowicz centers upon landscapes, human subjects, and the socio-political issues that connect the two. While some of his images are overtly political, others are more subtly implicit, and in both cases, are concerned with culture, archeology, history, religion, and spirituality. His work reflects a careful observation of place, often imbuing natural or built landscapes with nuanced emotional affects.

Ickowicz has had numerous solo exhibitions in Israel including the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and the Haifa Museum of Art. Ickowicz has received the Young Artist Award from the Israeli Ministry of Culture and Sport, the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Prize, and the Gerard Levi Prize for a Young Photographer from the Israel Museum.
