About The Work
Artspace is proud to announce a new limited edition by contemporary painter and sculptor, Woody De Othello. Bringing the artist’s multifaceted practice into conversation, this two-pronged edition includes a small run of 30 vibrant screenprints, as well as a run of only five prints that come accompanied with handmade glazed ceramic sculptures.
Woody De Othello is known for sophisticated and witty investigations of banal subject matter spanning household objects, bodily features, and the natural world. Othello often turns his gaze to everyday domestic artifacts such as chairs, vases, and light switches, and imbues their forms with emotive, surrealistic, anthropomorphic proportions. Convincingly producing a palpable gravitational effect upon his inanimate subjects is a central challenge of his practice and is a prominent feature throughout his works in various media.
