About The Work
Untitled is an original artwork realized by Tony Cragg in 1996. Pencil on paper. Hand-signed by the artist on the lower left. On the back, there is the label of Buchmann Galerie, Koln. The drawing represents an abstract composition, and is typical of the artist's style. These abstract forms on paper are usually translated into the third dimension, and they prepare for the birth of the famous artist's sculptures. His drawings reveal how the sculptures were born from their materials and from the demanded process, but above all from conscious planning and thought.

Tony Cragg (Liverpool, 1949) is one of the world’s foremost sculptors. He is known for his exploration of unconventional materials, including plastic, fiberglass, bronze, etc. Cragg's sculptures freeze a moment of movement, resulting in dynamic abstractions. He had his first solo exhibition at the Lisson Gallery, in 1979. He also represented Britain at the Venice Biennal in 1988, and was rewarded with the prestigious Turner Prize. From 1979 to 2016, he held more than 250 solo exhibitions in major museums and galleries in Europe, the USA, Asia, and Australia, including the Louvre (Paris), Tate Gallery (Liverpool), National Museum of Modern Art (Seoul), MACRO (Rome), and many others.
