About The Work
Sylvie Fleury’s artworks play with continuity solutions between the history of modernist forms and the fashion system. From a real formal economy, her pieces redeploy monochrome, Pop Art or abstraction in terms of “haute couture”, cosmetics or “New Age” imagery.
In this new production, she substitutes denim for painter’s canvas and uses a motif that reminds the incessant recycling of fashion, where a 1970s accessory is revived as an object of desire after decades of eclipse. Halfway between the world of clothing and the memory of Pop Art, this new edition is also a wink in the shape of feminist customization.
