SÝN by Sigurður Árni Sigurðsson is The Globe of Goodwill for 2016. The Globe of Goodwill is a beautiful work of art and a delightful collector‘s piece, but its contents give it its true value – love and friendship. All proceeds will be donated to work for the benefit of children and other young people with disabilities. The name of The Globe is therefore symbolic of what it represents.
Sigurður Árni says of the work, “The globe has neither a beginning nor an end and symbolises the circle of life and Mother Earth. However, as with most things, the globe’s endless surface has two sides to it, as within it there is another endless surface. Two worlds—the external and the internal. By puncturing the surface, I felt I could join two worlds and get close to the unknown.”
