About The Work
The dynamic work of Shinique Smith incorporates Japanese calligraphy, graffiti, collage and found objects. Interweaving fluid line work with cut imagery, patterned fabric, and vibrant color, each of Smith’s compositions is a kaleidoscopic arrangement of personal narrative. Smith created this series of three works to benefit the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s artistic programming, and they will be featured on the cover of the BAMbill as part of the BAMbill Cover Artist program.
