About The Work
In 1963, Robert Indiana was one of six artists commissioned to imagine a design for US dollar coins. His painting New Glory Penny represents his version of the penny ($0.01) in his signature Pop art style using bright graphics inspired by hand-painted signs and advertisements.
The original artwork for New Glory Penny showing each side of a penny has been translated with one side (“1 Cent”) appearing as a bouclé patch on the left chest, and “USA” inside a 5-pointed star printed on the back of our bold orange hoodie. “Robert Indiana” is printed on the sleeve in his signature stencil style.
