About The Work
This work speaks to the systemic obstacles that are in place to prohibit achievement. This includes exclusionary laws and restrictive covenants. The pigeon in the piece is tucked in and has a posture of suppressing/veiling itself in a submissive state to these restrictions. The figure also is rendered to have a similar stance as the pigeon, a state of submission. In this body of work a lot of the titles double with aviation terms that speak towards flying as a synonym for achievement. One of the definitions for stalled as a verb is to come to a standstill (as from mired wheels or engine failure).
