About The Work
In GRACIE a striptese dancer moves across the digital painting’s horizon, a set of classical arches her footpath. In this way, Cortright merges ancient and contemporary references within her landscape, which overflows with multi-colored flowers and other lush vegetation. At odds, however, with the dancer’s delicate movements are the forms of stones flying across the space, the hulking presence of which provide tonal contrast to the space and augments a sense of the fantastic.
