DAVID ANCELIN
ParisMacumba night club éditions is an invitation of the french artist David Ancelin made for other artists to create in association with each of them, an edition in silkscreen printing. This project was born in Nice in June, 2011 during a first presentation in David Ancelin studio. This place, also named Macumba night club was fitted out in an exhibition space with walls painted in black and white. Personal and collective exhibitions from 2010 till 2012 were presented to it.
No directive is given concerning this invitation except to respect a maximum size of 50/70 cm for transport facilities. At every presentation, the exhibition welcomes new artists and thus, new editions. According to the route, the set establishs a heterogeneous and international group. The principle of the multiple is exploited here in a plurality of sense : multiplication of publishing, multiplication of artists, multiplication of exhibition places, multiplication of cultures...
The term Macumba indicates just as much a form of voodoo practice between black magic and white magic than a nightclub of the same name appeared in the 70s in the east of France.
