Jeanne Susplugas

French artist Jeanne Susplugas explores our relationships to ourselves and others through questioning the ways we confine ourselves through addiction. She employs a variety of media, though primarily working in sculpture, to describe an obsessive world where we become troubled with both anxiety and serenity, solitude and company.  

Susplugas’ work has been exhibited widely in venues such as the KW in Berlin, the Villa Medicis in Rome, Palazzo delle Papesse in Siena, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Fresnoy National Studio, the Museum of Modern Art of St. Etienne, the Museum of Grenoble, as well as at events such as Contemporary Dublin, the Biennale of Alexandria and Shanghai, and Nuit Blanche in Paris. Her films have been presented at Hors Pistes (Pompidou Centre, Paris) Locarno International Film Festival, Miami International Film Festival, Les Instants Video in Marseille and Les Rencontres Internationales Paris / Berlin / Madrid. In 2013, she won the Opline Prize for contemporary art, nominated by Orlan.
