The work of New York-based Israeli artist Naama Tsabar often takes nightlife as its point of departure, considering the dynamics of gender, power, and seduction implicit in such environments. Working in sculpture, installation, and performance, the artist often merges materials drawn from the set-ups of rock bands with the aesthetics of Minimalist art, challenging the distinction between high and low cultural forms. Her installation Speaker Wall, comprising two seemingly monolithic stacks of black speakers that reference the stark, geometric aesthetic of high modernist art, is in fact revealed to be a functional musical instrument, inviting viewers to interact with the work by plucking the piano strings that line the back of each wall. Blurring the boundaries between medium and genre, Tsabar's work exists at the intersection of music, art, and performance.

Tsabar’s work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including MoMA PS1, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art.
