About The Work
The sun sets on a rooftop pool filled with floating roses while trailing plants hang down from an invisible ceiling. Composed using the popular American life simulation videogame ‘The Sims’, the individual panels of the triptych were painted by a different painter found on the Chinese e-commerce platform, Taobao.
The resulting differences between each panel disrupt the serene and dream-like atmosphere of this rooftop paradise, a startling reminder of the discrepancies between fantasy and reality. Please note each panel of the triptych is painted separately, which results in some unevenness between the three parties, a normal outcome of the artist’s practice.
