    About The Work

Baumgarten often documents sequential scenes on a journey or artistic expedition through an ecological terrain that is, or once was, inhabited by indigenous peoples. In Matteawan/Fishkill a dark, cloth-like material hangs from a tree's branches as though it had grown throughout time to become a part of the fauna itself.
