About The Work
John Waters, the famed director of B-movie-inspired films, made his foray into art with his "little movies," photographs of movies played on his TV that he strings together horizontally. This four-color photogravure represents an historic achievement for photogravure, which usually can only allow for one color because of the complex process. Waters has used stills from two of his films: on left is Edith Massey in Female Trouble, on the left, while on right is Glenn Milstead, "Divine," in Pink Flamingoes. The title of the work, Drunk, elides the two images together, albeit with a smirk.
