About The Work
In 2015, New York’s Museum of Modern Art reached back into the archives of 32 notable Italian designers to bring a beautiful and affordable range of tabletop products to the museum’s Design Store. The collection, Design Memorabilia: de Gustibus, marked the 2015 World's Fair in Milan and its theme of food. None of the products had ever been manufactured before, and were either specially produced for the collection by its respective designers or realized from archival sketches. This trio of Squared Circle bowls – in red, green, and yellow – were based on a 1958 sketch inspired by the traffic lights Sottsass saw during his first trip to New York while working for US designer George Nelson.
