New Limited Edition Silkscreen by Anne Buckwalter x NADA
Artspace is pleased to announce a new limited edition silkscreen by contemporary painter Anne Buckwalter. Named one of the most fascinating artists in America by Galerie magazine, Buckwalter is known for domestic scenes that adorn the flattened style of Pennsylvania Dutch folk art style with hallmarks of contemporary life.
The Edition
Rendered with luxurious color and meticulous detail, Buckwalter’s new edition of 40 prints is brought to life with hand-painted gouache, spot varnish, and silkscreen on smooth fabric paper. Miscellaneous objects strewn across the bed encourage us to consider connections between beauty, sensuality, pleasure, and pain. Look closer, and a few unexpected secrets are found hiding in plain sight.
Self-Portrait with Hairbrush, Pen, Book, Leash, and Collar is produced in partnership with the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) and will be on view at NADA New York, May 2 - 5, 548 West 22nd Street. Proceeds from the sale of the limited edition will support NADA’s mission as a not-for-profit collective of professionals working with contemporary art.
“There are three general themes that tend to guide my creative practice. Creating intentional ambiguity, exploring female identity, and embracing contradictions. I locate the intersection of these themes by making narrative paintings that use mysterious figures and uncanny spaces to think about gender roles, the female body, and intimacy.” —Anne Buckwalter

About NADA
Founded in 2002, the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) is a not-for-profit 501c6 collective of professionals working with contemporary art. Our mission is to create an open flow of information, support, and collaboration within our field and to develop a stronger sense of community among our constituency. We believe that the adversarial approach to exhibiting and selling art has run its course. We believe that change can be achieved through fostering constructive thought and dialogue between various points in the art industry from large galleries to small spaces, non-profit and commercial alike. Through support and encouragement, we facilitate strong and meaningful relationships between our members working with new contemporary and emerging art; while enhancing the public’s interaction with contemporary art.
