Valerio Adami

Valeria Adami was an Italian painter and printmaker associated with Pop Art. As a key figure of the New Figuration movement, Adami rejected Abstract Expression in the 1960s in favor of figurative painting with abstract elements. Reminiscent of French cloisonnism and stained glass, his style is characterized by flat planes of color enclosed by thick black outlines. His works approached diverse subjects relating to politics, travel, literature, music, and mythology.

Retrospectives of Adami’s work have been presented at institutions such as Centre Pompidou in Paris, Centre Julio-Gonzalez in Valencia, and Boca Raton Museum of Art.
