Justin Samson
Justin Samson’s work is based on loosely appropriated interior images and styles that are blended together in a distinct and cohesive fashion. Using saturated images from vintage interior design books and magazines as source material, Samson creates a collage-oriented world that is strangely familiar. His layering of decorative materials reads like a long record of past styles, transfigured and filtered through his personal memory. In the end, Samson’s paintings can seem like hallucinations or dream-like environments. Previously represented by John Connelly Presents and Kravets Wehby gallery, Samson has had several solo exhibitions in New York, and is currently represented by Neumann Wolfson Art. He has exhibited at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, the Nassau County Museum in Roslyn, NY, the Deste Foundation for Contemporary Art in Athens, Greece, and the Museum of Modern Art in NY. Other international exhibitions include Loyal Gallery in Stockholm Sweden, Hiromi Yoshi Gallery in Tokyo, Japan, Mucciaccia Contemporary in Rome, Italy, and Christina Wilson Gallery in Copenhagen, Denmark.
