Hannah Quinlan & Rosie Hastings

Hannah Quinlan and Rosie Hastings are an artist duo living and working in South East London. Their practice includes @Gaybar, an event series that seeks to rematerialize the historic gay bar as a container for queer discourse as well as CGI animation, video installation, archival, text, and audio work. In addition, they have created a series of 6 short videos using material from the UK Gay Bar Directory. In the climate of the rapid gentrification of gay villages and the subsequent closure of many LGBTQI community spaces across the UK the artists believe that documenting these disappearing spaces is an important historical gesture and a strategy for resisting assimilation.

Their work has been exhibited in group and solo shows, including 15th Venice Architecture Biennale, Arcadia Missa, London, Somerset House, London, Various Small Fires, Los Angeles, Saatchi Gallery, London, David Roberts Art Foundation, London, and Genesis Cinema, London.
