Glen Baldridge

The severe and dark themes that Brooklyn-based artist Glen Baldridge engages with—for instance, morbidity, drug culture, and the angst and confusion of American youth—is offset by the artist’s incorporation of various humorous elements. Though Baldridge is noted for his printmaking abilities, he also works in sculpture, drawing, and appropriation art. Regarding the latter, Baldridge has explored the intersection of consumerism and mortality by employing such gloomy components as found coffin catalogues, losing lottery tickets, and knife infomercials. 

Since earning his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1999, Baldridge has exhibited his work extensively in galleries throughout the United States. His pieces are also included in the collections of notable institutions such as New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and Museum of Modern Art.
