Fran Siegel

Fran Siegel’s investigation of place occurs through the activity of drawing. Her research-driven process generates sprawling collaged and spatial constructions that are depictions of time, movement, and cultural change. Siegel’s monumental drawings have been acquired by LACMA, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and the Yale University Art Gallery.

Amplifying shifting daylight in her site-specific installations, these environments are ever-changing and reactive- highlighting the way even the most nuanced of changes can dramatically alter the way we perceive the world. These projects include her commission by the US Department of Cultural Affairs as the US representative at the IX International Bienal of Cuenca, Ecuador, Muzeum Sztuki in Lodz, The Museum of Arts and Design in NYC, The Art, Design, and Architecture Museum at UCSB and The Fowler Museum at UCLA. Siegel has just been commissioned by the Los Angeles Metro to create a permanent work for the Wilshire/La Brea Station. In New York, her work is represented by Lesley Heller Gallery.
