Florian Meisenberg

The unstretched, painted canvases of German artist Florian Meisenberg experiment with various elements of the depicted image, incorporating subliminal iconography, Internet references, and digital media to address notions of authenticity and language. Through various media, including linseed oil painting and video, Meisenberg’s mundane subject matter, which include animals, caricatures and warped text, transcend their everyday symbolism.

Meisenberg’s solo shows include Simone Subal Gallery, New York, Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne, Mendes Wood, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Kasseler Kunstverein, Kassel, Germany, Wentrup Gallery, Berlin, Wilhelm-Hack-Museum, Ludwigshafen, and Kate MacGarry Gallery, London. Recent selected group exhibitions include Kunstpalais Erlangen, Germany, Goethe Institute, Hong Kong, Museum Kunsten, Aalborg, Denmark, Queens Museum of Art, New York, Grieder Contemporary, Zurich, Switzerland, Galerie Parrotta Contemporary Art, Stuttgart, Germany, Avlskarl Projects, Copenhagen, Denmark, New Talents Biennale 2010, Cologne, Germany, Wilhelm-Hack-Museum, Ludwigshafen, Germany and Kunstverein Langenhagen, Germany.
