In a 2017 catalog essay on recent paintings, Carmen Machado, author of Her Body and Other Parties: Stories, wrote “Deborah Zlotsky’s paintings are, at their essence, a convergence: of Renaissance images and pop art, of the past and present, of science fiction and reality, of physicality and illusion.” Zlotsky is represented by Kathryn Markel Fine Arts in New York and Robischon Gallery in Denver. She has received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in painting, and recent residencies fellowships include the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and the Bemis Center for the Contemporary Arts. Zlotsky’s work is in variety of public, private and corporate collections in the US and abroad, including Nordstrom, Capital One, Progressive Insurance, the Waldorf Astoria, and the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection.
