David Callaway

Philadelphia-based artist David Callaway’s process focuses on conscious and unconscious mark making. His marks display the conflict of expressing natural instincts and control as he experiments with new techniques and ways to communicate thoughts and ideas through imagery. He describes his portfolio as conversations and windows — not windows to the outside world, but windows to one’s inner self. Callaway's body of work ranges from small works on paper to larger scale canvases. "I often group my work into series,  rooted in the many things that fascinate me. The subject matter or starting  point of my paintings are an attempt to create a lasting moment and reflect interconnectedness with the web of life and a desire to move others to look more deeply at the natural world."
