Anne Neukamp

Anne Neukamp explores a visual language based on functional icons from her surroundings. Her images create a fluid state of being, in which perception continuously switches between material structure and spatial imagination. In her works, source materials (pictograms, logos, characters and other components found in advertising and visual communication) are modified to the point that they become stripped of their original context and intended meaning. This process of estrangement transmutes each visual element to new and unexpected situations.

Neukamp is the recipient of a 2015 Pollock-Krasner Grant, and has shown her work in a number of solo exhibitions including, Galerie Gregor Podnar, Berlin, Galerie Chez Valentin, Paris, France
, Wilhelm Hack Museum, Rudolf-Scharpf-Galerie, Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Greta Meert, Brussels, Belgium. Group shows include Mitchell-Innes & Nash, New York, LeRoy Neiman Gallery, Columbia University School of the Arts, New York, and the Centre d’art et de culture, Guyancourt, France.
