Alberto Casari

Peruvian artist Alberto Casari performs as a set of alter egos under the alias PPPP, which stands for Products Peruanos Para Pensar (or Peruvian Products for Thought.) PPPP, initiated in 1994, allows the artist to disappear as an individual creator and instead assume an anonymous role, challenging the status quo fetishization of the artist persona, artistic genius, and authorship. Casari questions the art world’s obsession with the signature as a symbol of authenticity, at times using logos in his works, which include painting, textiles, visual poetry and text, among other media.

Casari has held many solo exhibitions in Peru and has participated in the 30th Bienal de Sao Paulo, the 54th Biennale of Venice, the 2nd National Biennial of Lima. His work has also been exhibited at Centro Cultural Peruano Británico in Lima, Museo de Arte de Lima, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Santiago, among many others.
