Simeon Nwoko

Simeon Nwoko is a Nigerian-born visual artist from Nkanu West, Enugu State. He channels themes of optimism, remembrance, and loyalty through his artworks crafted with charcoal and paints on canvas. His creations vividly capture the essence of devotion, clarity in character, and the enduring belief in positive outcomes amidst adversity. Simeon's choice of yellow skin texture in his subjects symbolizes diverse traits, including mental activity, communication, vision enhancement, confidence-building, and embodies qualities like hope, honour, joy, and loyalty.

The artist's deliberate use of yellow skin tones is a homage to historical symbolism, particularly referencing the tradition of wearing yellow ribbons in 1973 as a symbol of hope during a hostage crisis, reflecting his desire to preserve memories and convey messages of hope through his art. Employing acrylic, charcoal, and oil paints, he depicts real-life experiences and emotional narratives, aiming for his works to inspire and uplift those facing adversity.
