About The Work

Robert Wilson originally produced this sleek, elegant chair for the staging of De Materie (Matter), a musical production that Wilson directed in 1989. The fourth part of the composition features excerpts by Marie Curie—from both her Nobel Prize speech and her personal diary—though, here, the title refers to her husband and collaborator, Pierre Curie.
