About The Work
Untitled (Pianos, Fruits and Vegetables) ) synthesizes Automat instant photography with precision craftsmanship in a dramatic sculptural composition. The work references Sir Isaac Newton's invention of the color wheel and its basis on the musical scale. Like many of Coffin's works, Untitled (Pianos, Fruits and Vegetables) plays with notions of synaesthesia and pseudoscience. Peter Coffin has been exhibiting since 1997 and has shown at museums throughout the United States and Europe including P.S. 1/Moma (New York); Palais de Tokyo (Paris); Migros Museum (Zurich) and the Wanas Foundation (Wanas, Sweden).
