The Shandaken Project
BrooklynThe Shandaken Project supports important cultural producers as they create new pathways in their work, and thereby the world, with a process-focused residency program on the grounds of Storm King Art Center. Visual artists, dancers, writers, curators, and scholars are offered free room, board, and studio space for two to six weeks each, three at a time. Since its founding in 2011, the Shandaken Project has been primarily supported by a peer network of creative professionals. This unique structure compliments the organization's interest in emergent forms with transformative potential, and ensures that it receives its mandate directly from its primary constituency.
With the believe that research, experimentation, and the pursuit of radical ideas are vital steps in the progress of culture, the Shandaken Project provides an alternative model for organizations and significant opportunities for the creative community in an independent environment.
