Maki Fine Arts
TokyoMaki Fine Arts was established in the Nihonbashi district of Tokyo in 2010 as a contemporary art gallery with the purpose of introducing new and mid-career Japanese artists to the world. Main artists featured at the gallery include Yoshio Shirakawa (b. 1948) , Yasuko Toyoshima (b. 1967) and Fuminao Suegana (b. 1974). Expressing their unique take on issues involving the medium and the surface through paintings, photography, and three-dimensional art, the distinguished approaches taken by these artists have been highly regarded and their creations have been shown mainly in museums and international art festivals. In 2015, the gallery relocated to the Shinjuku ward of Tokyo and now holds exhibitions in a refurbished space once housed by an auto mechanics shop. The gallery participated in NADA New York 2016 where its showcased works were noticed and mentioned in Artnet News and BlouinArtinfo.
