This collaboration of two long-time friends took place in Hotel Castel in Zuoz, a place known for its commitment to art, up in the seclusion of the Swiss Alps. The book and the portfolio, with their hidden jokes, testify to the artists’ joyful, humorous exchange of medium. John Baldessari, the father of the "picture generation," and Lawrence Weiner, the maker of "statements," have taken a daring leap into their partner’s terrain with stunning results. A story has emerged that shakes the very foundations of narration and addresses the subjectivity of appearances. This first collaboration ever of these two artists was initiated by Galerie Mai 36.
