Emeline Degraeve was born in 1998 in Fairfax, Virginia, and lives and works in Brussels. She holds a Master's degree in Painting from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre and a diploma from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. Emeline Degraeve draws her inspiration for her paintings from everyday scenes, staged events and personal archive photographs, which she tries to shift into a different space-time. In her paintings, people seem submerged in a strange atmosphere, lost in an intense immensity.

Zoé Kamalić lives and works in Brussels, and recently graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre with a Masters in Graphic Design. She presents 'Derrière le rideau' (Behind the Curtain), an intimate and engaging project based around five women who have undergone excision and who talk about their conditions beyond the taboos. The project takes form of an installation in space, with a textile work embroidered with testimonies, polaroid photographs, editions and a sound creation.

Alexandra Van Leeuw lives and works in Brussels. She graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre with a Master's degree in Interior Architecture. In her installation 'Oyster Shelter', she re-appropriates the oyster as a material, highlighting its properties and symbolism. ‘Whether the oyster is whole or not, it can be used to protect the house, to keep out the rain thanks to its morphology, or to create a resistant mortar thanks to its components. From China to the United States, these solutions almost ceased to exist with the advent of concrete. What all these constructions have in common is their future deterioration. They will not last forever, their lifespan will be determined by the natural elements. But as they gradually disappear, they will enrich the soil on which they are built, and perhaps give back to the ruins their poetic symbolism of stories that can only be told through the possibility of seeing them disappear.’

Hadrien Loumaye was born in 1999 and lives and works in Brussels. He recently graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre with a Master's degree in Painting. ‘Hadrien Loumaye body of work is essentially focused on the relationship between gesture and color. The movement is the direct witness of a certain physical energy breathed into each creative act. The various colors arrangements present in the paintings are placed in such a way as to produce an emotive effect on the viewer. He presents a series of colored field assemblies that signify a pivotal evolution in his artistic exploration. This body of work emerges from a deliberate contemplation of color and its application, marking a significant shift in his practice. Referencing diverse art historical currents, Loumaye's art seeks to merge the subjective essence of abstract expressionism with the systematic production of minimalism.’

The opening will take place on saturday 23 march from 2pm to 6pm at Gallery Nosco.
