About The Work
Brad Kahlhamer’s highly unique style draws inspiration from contemporary painting, the American landscape, rock and roll, and his Native American heritage. Using motifs such as concert speakers, eagles, towering trees, braided hair and the blue and red of “Old Glory,” Kahlhamer weaves a dream-like portrait of the American west, exploring the relationship of Native American culture to sex, music, spiritualism and stereotype. This provocative portfolio of eight etchings includes the initial black lined and final uniquely hand-colored editions of four works from 2000, Blacktail, Friendly Frontier, Native Girl and Ugh Jr.
